Where to fish in Malaysia / Kuala Lumpur / Hartamas

Hi all,

Before we begin I would like to thank Caesar for bringing this lake to my attention. Till now a lake in the middle of Hartamas was unheard of to me. I would also like to warn that this place is federal government land and is fenced up. People usually go horse riding here.

If you have balls go for it. I am not sure about the hidden treasures there though.

Folks, if you’re imagining that you will be parking your car in front of souled out and taking a light hike through some long grass to reach here, you are very well wrong. Half an hour to get down to the valley and another half to get up back. Provided you don’t get lost. Inaccessible by any form of motor vehicle.

What it looks like from the top of the valley. after you enter the preserve.

Caesar and I first tried to enter through a gated community. To our dismay the opening which he had used earlier had been fenced up due to some development work. He then mentioned to me that there is another way through the equestrian club. Which I was fortunately a member off (hehe). Should have seen how Caesar’s face lit up, better than the feeling of seeing a big fish.

So we switched our game plan and entered through the equestrian club. We drove through the stable area and past a gate that was open. There was a sign there that stated “Federal Government Land”. This gave me assurance that this is my land!

We drove up and up till we found a path that was only meant for our feet. Folks do wear wellies. Here’s a checklist of how messed up things can get.

1. No proper terrain, bring a machete.

2. Tonnes of mosquitos

3. If you’re planning to bait cast dream on.

4. Fish with a float, a lot of trees have fallen into the lake.

Beautiful clear water. Messed up weather though

Fair amount of baby fish.

We found a camp in here right next to the edge of the water. Abandoned though. Someone did fish here.

In our observation there we did not see any fair sized fish, let alone the giants. This could be, because of the choppy weather. If there any readers that have been here and landed something do share what you got.

In this part, there are remnants of a “rag tag” jetty. Someon tried to boat here at one time

Something we observed also is that the surrounding banks of this lake is rather solid. We were not sinking in any point around the lake. A big plus. Probably because this place did look as if someone tried to do something with it.

Folks the easiest way to get here now would be through the equestrian club. Unless you want to park your car right next to the highway and trudge in. Where you would most probably meet a fence.

Good news if you are already members.

Ta,

SK
