I did a follow up trip to Jugra recently to satisfy my curiosity on whether soft plastic baits, or lures, would yield results for saltwater fishing. Since my experience with soft plastic baits are mostly from fishing for haruans & tomans, I wanted to find out if sea fishes, like siakap, groupers and snappers would go for it.
Arriving on a hot afternoon, I paid the registration fee & proceeded to the siakap pond for my first cast. There were only 2 other anglers there. Since I have no idea what the siakaps would go for, I armed myself with my favorite Inline Spinner rigged with Berkley Powerbait 3" grubs. Prior to fishing, I made sure to spray a fresh coat of Berkley Gulp Garlic scent for that added attraction.
Do take note.
I make a mistake in my earlier article, stating that En Zainuddin's pricing for taking fish home. Here is the correct information, my apologizes.
Registration is RM 3. Anglers are allowed to fish at any one of the 3 ponds stocks with siakap, grouper and snappers. The selling price for siakap is RM 17 / kg. Grouper and snappers are RM 35 / kg. En Zainuddin also offers fish cleaning services, he charges RM 1 for each fish, inclusive of ice & newspaper wrapping with plastic bag. I quite like this as I can skip the dirty work of doing it myself & open up the package to get my fish and straight into cooking it.
After about 3 hours of fishing, I caught 2 siakaps but lost 4. Not bad for just 3 hours of fishing. Although I tried luring those groupers and snappers, they were not obliging. Perhaps on my next visit, I should try out the new Zerek Live Shrimp. Overall fishing here is productive. You guys should give it a try.
